Nitrogen vs compressed air for Tires w/ Jay Leno

Filling up your tires with Nitrogen will not only benefit you, but it will also benefit the environment.

Drivers for Nascar wont fill up their tires with anything BUT Nitrogen. Commercial airlines are required by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to use nitrogen in airplane tires as well. Not to mention the U.S. Government, they use nitrogen to inflate tires in Military vehicles.

Lets face reality. About 85% of Americans don't regularly check tire pressure. Inflating tires with nitrogen reduces leakage. So unchecked tires would stay inflated and therefore will be safer for a longer period of time.

The Pro's of using nitrogen, not regular air, to inflate consumers tires contend as follows:

Air is composed of:

– 1% Water Vapor and Other Gases – Escapes up to 250 times faster than Nitrogen
– 21% Oxygen – Escapes 3-4 times faster than Nitrogen
– 78% Nitrogen – The largest molecule in air is dry and non-flammable.

Therefore, because of their large size, nitrogen molecules are the least permeable and stay in your tire longer keeping it inflated longer, giving you better fuel mileage, traction and control, keeping you safer on the road.

Get more out of your tires:

– Converting to nitrogen in tires can improve your fuel economy by up to 10% and increase your tire life by 25% or more.

You may ask yourself, WHAT IF MY TIRES ARE LOW AND I AM NOT NEAR A NITROGEN SERVICE CENTER? Well it wont harm your tires to top them off with regular air if necessary but the more air you put in, the less benefit you get from the remaining Nitrogen in your tire. It is important to get your tire re-filled with Nitrogen when possible.

THE CHEVY VOLT….. ITS ELECTRIC!!! BOOGIE, WOOGIE, WOOGIE!!!

How does driving for 40 miles before your car uses a single drop of gas sound? Sounds like the future to me! The engineers at Chevrolet have been working overtime to ensure that the Volt is the first mass produced re-chargeable car on the market. Powered by a lithium ion battery, the Volt boasts a theoretical 230 mpg! The company estimates the Volt will need 8 kilowatt hours for the recharge required to travel those first 40 miles. Research from the Department of Energy suggests most consumers will end up paying more than that, probably around 88 cents per re-charge. Purchase costs for the first generation Volt will not come cheap either, as stated by Chevrolet's representatives. As the “re-chargeable” technology becomes more efficient consumers can expect prices to drop dramatically. SO!… Keep your eyes pealed for this eco-friendly crusader and do not forget to check out the line up of Chevy wheels offered @ rimsdealer.com

The Ferrari 458 Italia!!! Whoah!!!!!!

This all-new 4.5-liter, direct-injection, V-8 is said to produce 570 hp at 9000 rpm, and pump out 398 lb-ft of torque at 3250 rpm. This insane V-8 is paired up with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission in order to transfer those 570 ponies to the ground. Ferrari expects the 458 will rocket from 0-62 mph in just under 3.4 seconds and reach a top speed of over 202 mph! Consumers can expect to see this beast in show rooms beginning September of this year….and it won't come cheap! Can't wait!!!!

NISSAN'S FUNKY CUBE!

If “different” is what you are after then look no further than the 2009 Nissan Cube. The Cube is loaded with eye-popping designs sure to “break-necks”. A 122 horsepower, 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine powers the front-wheel-drive Nissan Cube. Accessories and options are-a-plenty as well, one of the most interesting being the 20-color Interior Accent Lighting system. Nissan offers the Cube with a 6-speed manual transmission or the Xtronic CVT. (Continuously Variable Transmission)

2010 FORD MUSTANG… SMALLER IS BETTER

“We have a car which I think is more suitable for the times than the Challenger and the Camaro,” said Ford Motor's North American design director, Peter Horbury. “Especially the Challenger — it is a huge car when you see it on the road.” Fuel efficiency is “where its at” for today's automotive consumer and the team at Ford knows it. The 2010 edition of “America's Sports Car” was engineered to look smaller and waste less fuel. The cars styling ques haven't changed much, but Ford anticipates these subtle re-workings will attract new customers. The 2010 will be offered in a V6, V6 Premium, GT, GT Premium and GT 500. Rumors are that the 2010 may also be offered with Ford's brand new ECO-BOOST engine, which means better performance and less pollution.
